Brian: Hey Nick, how’s it going?

Nick: All right. You look happy – what’s up?

Brian: I’m so pumped up for the basketball game this weekend! It’s gonna be an awesome game, and if we win, we go to the state championships!

Nick: Who are you guys playing?

Brian: Penn State. They’re a good team, but I know we can beat them. Last time we lost by two points because our defense screwed up in the last minute of the game. Our coach was pissed off – he yelled at us for over an hour afterwards! So, are you coming to the game?

Nick: I can’t… something came up.

Brian: What?

Nick: Professor Jackson assigned a 12-page paper due on Monday. It’ll take me the whole weekend to finish it.

Brian: That’s too bad! You’re gonna miss a great game!

Nick: Yeah, but if I don’t study, I’ll fall behind in my classes. Hey, what are you up to tonight?

Brian: Not much; I’ve got some homework to do and then I’ll probably hang out with my roommates.

Nick: You’re not gonna stop by Jenny’s party?

Brian: Nah, probably not. I’m tired from basketball practice and I don’t feel like dancing. I just wanna do something laid-back – watch a movie, play some video games…

Nick: Gotcha. Well, I’ve gotta run. Catch you later – good luck at the game!

Brian: Thanks!
