Future: Going to – Part 2

Use going to to talk about future plans and predictions.

Negative

I am not going to have
You

We

They

are not going to have
He

She

It

is not going to have

In the negative, there are two ways to make the short form.

Both are correct:

  • You’re not = You aren’t
  • We’re not = We aren’t
  • They’re not = They aren’t
  • He’s not = He isn’t
  • She’s not = She isn’t
  • It’s not = It isn’t

Examples:

  • I’m not going to have lunch.
  • You’re not going to leave class early.
    You aren’t going to leave class early.
  • We’re not going to spend lots of money.
    We aren’t going to spend lots of money.
  • They’re not going to win the game.
    They aren’t going to win the game.
  • He’s not going to understand.
    He isn’t going to understand.
  • She’s not going to watch TV.
    She isn’t going to watch TV.
  • It’s not going to be cloudy tomorrow.
    It isn’t going to be cloudy tomorrow.
