Today’s word of the day is delegate. This is a verb meaning to give someone a task to do, you give them responsibility for getting it done. You’ll often hear it in business English.

The president of a company doesn’t do everything themselves – instead they delegate tasks and projects, giving those responsibilities to employees. If you have children, you might delegate chores around the house to your kids – one is responsible for washing the dishes, another is responsible for sweeping the floor – you give them those tasks to do.
