Today’s word of the day is the verb dote. This means to show excessive love or fondness.
Grandparents often dote on their grandchildren – they show them tons of affection, buy them lots of gifts, make special food for them, etc. You can describe a person as doting if they show lots of love and affection – for example, my sister’s doting boyfriend buys her flowers every week.
